About Tonbridge Accountants

At Tonbridge Accountants, we are different. We’re not just tax returns and VAT! We’re innovative, dynamic relationship builders and business developers as well as great number crunchers.

Our values

Trust & Respect

If you’re looking for an accountant that you see once a year to fill in your tax return, sorry but that’s not us! With years of experience working in multi-national organisations, we value collaboration. We invest in our clients, taking time to understand them and their businesses.

What motivates you? What does a ‘good day’ look like? Which factors will impact your payroll?

We want to be your trusted business advisor – a valuable member of your team.

We ourselves are a husband and wife team of chartered accountants with over 30 years’ experience. We’re proud to be members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), and know that as a regulated practice, we’re offering our clients a truly superior service.

We’re passionate about using our skills and knowledge to take care of the financial side of things, so that you can focus on what you’re passionate about – your business.

How we work

We want to help businesses grow and thrive by providing a quality service and digital accounting helps deliver that. Cloud accounting packages, such as Xero, allow us to add value to your business by providing minute-to-minute numbers behind the scenes that we can analyse to help you make the right business decisions for future growth.

Innovation drives much of what we do including the way we operate – we want to revolutionise relationships between business owner and accountants! It’s important to us to step away from the traditional idea of accountants in beige offices and step into the colour of agile working – appointment free, accessible accountants, happy to meet wherever suits you be that over lunch or over Zoom.
Let us exceed your expectations – contact us today.

“I was comfortable with my day-to-day book-keeping but knew I needed help with finalising my company accounts, handling depreciation and tax returns. The first year’s experience with Tonbridge Accountants has confirmed this was the case and now, I don’t need to worry about this aspect of my business.

There were three reasons why I chose Tonbridge Accountants – nice people, competitively priced and I liked the fact that I wouldn’t be paying the overheads of a larger firm; and I really liked how flexible you were to meet my requirements. The client portal is really easy to use and I’ve been completely satisfied with my choice of accountants! I’m that I don’t need to worry about year-end returns and can turn to Tonbridge Accountants as and when I require advice.

Wendy and Laughton are friendly, approachable, responsive and professional – highly recommend!”

Wendy Ross, Founder

My accountancy career has spanned the globe and numerous well-known organisations, starting in 2004 with KPMG in Malaysia where I qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant. After working for Ernst & Young in Bermuda I moved to the UK where I joined HSBC bank, spending seven years working in regulatory policy, business risk and internal control.

At Tonbridge Accountants I want to share this wealth of experience with likeminded entrepreneurs and ambitious business owners, supporting them to achieve their goals and grow their business. I am passionate about helping my clients thrive and I relish the opportunity to be fully involved, not just with year-end accounts but with the highs and lows of the everyday too.

We’ve worked in well-known organisations and we want to say we’ve worked in more – yours.

“Tonbridge Accountants are like no other accountants I have used. Proactive, responsive and with exceptional customer service. I would recommend them to anyone.”

Laughton Ross, Director

I trained in a traditional small firm working under partners that had joined themselves as trainees. They taught me that every client is different. They showed me that you can only be a great accountant by truly understanding the client’s business: where they’ve come from, where they are going and what’s most important to them. They also taught me to take pride in my work and how important it is to provide a quality set of accounts for every client, regardless of their size.

After qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2007, I took this knowledge with me to Ernst & Young in Bermuda. I soon learned that the attention to detail needed for analysing snooker chalk costs for the local conservative club was just as useful in auditing the multi-billion dollar investment portfolios of my large reinsurance clients. I spent the next few years in various risk management and internal audit roles, developing my expertise in process, risk and controls, and qualifying as a chartered insurer along the way. I understand what can go wrong in businesses of all sizes and more importantly what can be done about it. I want to share this knowledge with you, so that together we can make your business successful.

“I was introduced by a mutual friend whom I trusted, and I had seen your social media presence as well – I liked that you were focussing on smaller businesses locally.

I’ve been very pleased with my experience. You are responsive to my requests and tax returns were prepared quickly. You have good processes and communication.

I have no hesitation in recommending you.”
